~~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~ I am listing a few more dolls from my late mother’s doll collection. I am not a collector of these type of vintage dolls, so I’ve attempted to describe the listed dolls best as possible. You can message me if you have any questions..DESCRIPTION:.This doll is an “early” bendable knee walker Alexander-kin doll (or “Wendy”), probably from the mid to late 1950’s. I will describe below, why I think she is an “early” Alex Wendy doll:~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~.~~~~She has a lovely triple-stitch (blonde) wig that is still it it’s curly set with very loopy curls at the bottom of her “flip style” hair-do. To me, her hair looks different from the later Wendys because her curls are bigger and not “gelled” heavily like some of the later Wendys had. Plz look at the photos I took of the back of her head, and you’ll see why I say this. She has pale coloring, heavier hard plastic, and BIG eyes, and then ….those CHUBBY CHEEKS. {NOTE: Wendy has lost most of her cheek coloring}. She has coral colored pouty lips. Her lower lashes & thin brows were hand-painted at the Alexander factory, and not made with a machine stencil. You can tell. See close-ups. Her eyes are NOT the fluttery kind. They just open and close like normal dolls. Molded lashes are intact. Also, I think the color of her IRIS + PUPILS are a bit unique since they are VERY DARK—almost black. And with her blonde hair, and very dark eyes, she reminds me of Sandra Dee (as a toddler). . Wendy “walks” = Allow me to begin by saying that these Alexander “walkers” are a puzzle to me. My Mom had many. Many Alex walkers!…. And they all seem to walk in various stages of walking abilities. Thus, I have no idea how these 8 inch Alexanders are supposed to walk, as Madame Alexander had intended! Most will walk sporadically—and when & if they want to. Anyhow, this little “walker” has somewhat stiff knees but once they get going, they bend properly (though I advise moving the knees gently) . She moves her head back & forth when you GENTLY move her legs. I did not want to force her mechanism though, so I just checked her walking ability slowly (for fear of breaking her). Anyhow,I took photos of Wendy as she “walks”. Also note that her head tends to want to move more to the RIGHT for some reason. I don’t know why. Good Stringing= Her stringing is nicely done, and thus, she does NOT need to be re-strung. Plus to me, her arms do NOT seem “swingy”. MARKING= Marked “ALEX” on her back. Sold NUDE.
