Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a rare older microphone floor stand that was manufactured in the 1940’s and is quite hard to come by today. This unique floor stand had the extra wide, thick and heavy cast iron base with a unique slender dome. I have only ever seen a few of these stands in past and they were either a brass or cast iron model. I believe this is a Masco model but I’m not for sure? I know that RCA also sold this design during the same period and there are no markings on the bottom of the base to know for sure which brand it is? This design is possibly brass or cast iron with black paint and comes with two adjustable chrome risers. As you can see the riser are in very nice condition as is the base. Pic # 2 shows this possible model in an old 1940’s catalog I have. As you know many of the older Masco & RCA mic stands were quite large and heavy. This stand was great for those old large heavy mics of the era. This stand has an extra wide 12 inch diameter base making it far less likely to tip over. This stand weighs roughly 18 pounds. It can be adjusted form a low height of 35 inches to a top height of 59 inches tall which is more than enough for even the tallest musician. The center clutch mechanism works perfectly as well. As you can see there is just very lite wear on this stand but overall it’s in very nice condition. The risers have the almost no wear and they are free of any dents. The cast iron base has really nice black paint with zero paint chips and scratches. Just small imperfections in the casting process when it was made. The stand originally came with 6 base pads and they are still present which is small miracle so this stand was very well taken care of over the past 80 years. It will keep the stand from scratching any surface you use it on. The felt pads are well secured too. This mic stand is an easy 8 + on a scale of 1 – 10 in the cosmetic department. It will make for a great display piece with your mic anywhere in the home, office or studio and the rarity of it makes it even more desirable. This stand will only go up in value as they are just getting very hard to find now. MICROPHONE SHOWN ON STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE…FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
