Light is created through production of an arc between two electrodes. An electronic “ballast” is used to convert the lower-voltage current used by a vehicle’s electric system to the higher voltage required by HID bulbs. These features enable HID bulbs to produce very bright light, and last significantly longer than other bulbs.
