eBay A Very Large Mid-Century Italian Glazed Earthenware Model of a Hound c.1960 Origin: Italian Period: Mid 20thC Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1960 Height: 42.5” Width: 13.5” Depth: 28” The Base: 13.5” x 19.5” The very impressive and oversized vibrant earthenware model of a dog, possibly an Italian greyhound, the wonderfully rendered slender body painted and glazed in amber with a brown linked collar with glass eyes and sitting alert to a rope twisted rectangular cushion base, having an impressed mark to the underside stamped ‘Made in Italy’ and surviving from mid-century Italy. The hound is presented in very good overall condition, with wear commensurate with age to the glaze and paintwork; please view the photographs for a full visual reference. There is attractive crazing to glaze and the glaze is chipped slightly to one ear. Hand executed by a talented Italian artist, models of this type were made in Italy by realist ceramicists in the 1960s and 70s, with some coming out of studios such as Lenci.
