eBay Here are 18 old photos of the Huntsman, Dresser and Adams families of Plainfield, New Jersey. First are two photos, the same, of a bride sitting looking at her large bouquet. On the back of one she is identified as Dorothy Huntsman wedding picture and on the back of the other is written Grandma Dorothy Adams. Then there is a large oval photo of a young girl dressed in a white dress with white stockings and black high top button shoes. On the back of this photo is written My Mother Leontine Lissignolo Hunstman, the next photo is of an older woman with dark hair in a white shirt, on the back is written Dorothy Huntsman’s Mother. We believe this is Leontine from the last photo, now as an older woman. Another photo of a middle aged woman has Dorothy Huntsman’s mother written on it, this would be Leontine L. Huntsman. Next are 2 photos of a man identified as R. F. R. Huntsman and another as Gr. Gr. Huntsman, which we think means Great Great Grandfather. Then a nice photo of 4 girls and 1 boy, identified as Nancy, Alice, Ginny, Barbara, Danny Adams. Also a photo of a woman in a wedding dressed identified as Mama. Then an older man in a lawn chair outside identified as Papa Adams house 7th & Madison. 3 other photos feature children of Dorothy & Daniel Adams, one taken outside is of Ginny, Barbara & Alice. One is just of Barbara Adams and the other is of Barbara & Ginny. There are 2 photos one is a cabinet photo of a man with a beard in a suit and tie, the other taken when the man is much older. On the back he is identified as Dr. Daniel C. Adams age 22. The photographer of this photo was Fisher S. Manfort of Plainfield, NJ on the other one is written Great Grandfather Dr. Adams. Two photos feature a young woman in riding outfit, in one she is on a donkey or mule, looks like Egypt judging from the man standing next to her and her friend also in riding gear on a donkey, this has Lennie & Aunt Rae written on the back. The other one is of her in a riding outfit, with Leontine written on the back. There is a photo of a woman with two dogs, on the back she is identified as Aunt Pete Dresser and has a date stamped on it of 1937. I did some research and found that Leontine Lissignolo was married to Robert Fitz Randolph Huntsman, he was publisher of the Brooklyn Union Standard Newspaper, and later had his own advertising company R. F. R. Huntsman Corp. He died in 1945, Leontine was the daughter of George Lissignolo, she married Robert F. R. Huntsman in 1890, she died in 1946. The family spent their summers at their cottage in Massachusetts. They had 3 daughters, there was Dorothy Hazel Huntsman, born about 1891. She married Daniel Cory Adams, son of Dr. Daniel C. Adams in 1916, the description of the wedding in news articles sounds like it was quite an event, her gown is described just as it is in these two photos of her. Dorothy died in 1962. They had the 4 children featured in several of the photos, 4 girls and 1 son, Nancy, Alice, Ginny (Virginia), Barbara (Leontine Barbara), and Daniel C. III. There are several photos of the children. The photo of the man in the lawn chair is Daniel C. Adams, Jr. who married Dorothy Huntsman. There are 2 photos of Dorothy’s father in law, Dr. Daniel Cory Adams, who was the son of Jacob and Phoebe Adams, born in 1865 in Warrenville, NJ, he died in 1931, and had lived most of his life in Plainfield, NJ. He was married to Frances Honeyman. One is a photo as a younger man and one as an older man. Then there is a photo of the Huntsman’s daughter Florence, who married Edwin Dresser, posing with 2 dogs and identified as Aunt Pete. She was born in 1899 and died in Massachusetts in 1973, the couple had no children. Her obituary said she was active in the local historical society and also judged dog shows. There are the two photos of Leontine Augusta Huntsman, another daughter of Robert and Leontine Huntsman. She was born in 1891 in New Jersey, and never married. In 1922 she applied for a passport to sail to the British Isles, France, Switzerland, Italy, Gibraltar and Egypt. This could be where the above photo was taken of her and a friend on the donkeys or mules standing with the gentleman who could be Egyptian. She died in 1956 in Mass. at the home of her sister Florence. The photos are nice and clear, but do have some rough edges and bent corners. The bigger one has been cut into an oval at one time, I am guessing to fit into a frame. Great photos for anyone tracing the family history of the Huntsman or Adams family.
